An interesting project in Bristol in that the development is next to a cliff face with existing buildings at the top and two points of pedestrian access, one at the top and one at the bottom. The proposed scheme is for 19 dwelling units broken down into 7 x 1 bedroom flats, 6 x 2 bedroom flats, 2 x 3 bedroom flats and 4 studio units. The flats offer open planned kitchen dining and living spaces with bedrooms and shared bathroom facilities.
Some units are spread over two floors with private internal stairs and shared common access to all levels is provided by a disabled access lift, and two courtyard stairs. The fundamental design premise for the scheme is that it will be a ‘sustainable development’ incorporating as many realistic low-carbon or zero-carbon features as possible and practical.
Research into these factors is ongoing as the technology develops and statutory approvals are negotiated. |
