A very exciting development proposal which involves placing a Hotel du Vin within Chester Castle; an Ancient Scheduled Monument.
The historic value and significance of Chester Castle cannot be overstated and the project will need to adhere to English Heritage’s duty to secure the preservation of and to promote the public’s enjoyment of and advance their knowledge of the property.
The project focuses on two existing buildings (Grade 1 and Grade 11 listed) and perhaps other buildings within the site.
The long-term future of the buildings depends upon finding a sustainable use for them, whilst retaining their historic integrity and context.
We feel that this project will present us with some of the most significant challenges so far but we are extremely confident that we shall again find the ingenuity to resolve them all. |
