| The Practice's projects range from small-scale new build residential to large commercial commissions. We are particularly well known for the creative and contemporary re-use of existing historic (often listed) buildings as boutique hotels. Michael Phillips is the recipient of several awards: the 2002 National Civic Trust Commendation in the Conservation Category for the recovery and conversion of the Hotel du Vin in Bristol, the 2002 BDI Design Award in the Conservation Category for the Hotel du Vin, Birmingham, and in 2005, winner for the Hotel Bedrooms and Bathrooms category and fourth for the Architecture Restoration, Conversion and Refurbishment at the European Hotel Design Awards for Hotel du Vin Henley on Thames. |
| MPA was founded in 1995 and is based in the New Forest. Previously Michael was an Associate Partner in a Practice in Bermuda, where he gained a reputation for his work in the Caribbean, Bermuda, Cuba and the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. His most well-known work there is the Coco Reef Hotel in Tobago. |
